Pride Day in Indianapolis this past Saturday. Acres of people. Among the throng of attendees I saw only one person wearing a t-shirt with the name of my alma mater on it. It was an athletic shirt for one of the varsity sports and the man who wore it looked very much like he might be a current member of the college team. I would have loved to go over and greet him, identified myself as an alumnus, asked how life is for a gay man at Taylor U today. Under other circumstances I might have, but he was so attractive I found him intimidating. Instead I admired him from a safe distance. I was already acting like a fawning idiot; I didn’t want to sound like one. Not to him.
